I know there has been alot written on this topic but if anyone can help me further, i would be greatfull. I have an 3/04 build 545i that I am told based on my serial number, has BMW assist which allows for Bluetooth. My problem is when I contact the dealer or BMW head Office (I am located in Toronto, Canada) they tell me that I will need a new TCU. Any suggestions? Are there any software versions that I should be looking for TCU numbers/versions? All this is further complicated by the fact I do not even know what the TCU is and what it does!?
Thanks.
Thanks.

As far as the production date of you car goes, your TCU should be able to support Bluetooth with only a software upgrade. 3/04 was the beginning of the cutoff date so you might want to verify the exact production date of your car to make sure it wasn't really something like 2/28.
Also, there is a ton of stuff here about the TCU so you'll have no trouble learning all about what it is, etc. by doing a search.
Good luck!

Dear, I read this and I hope it will work in my car, I have a question ... Even if the production date was after 03/04 in order to activate BT, it would be necesary to ask the dealer to turn on the BT. Or if I have the 13.02 CIP or higer would be enough and the only I have to do is activating BT using my Idrive follow the bulletin instructions?
Thanks for your help

I can't say for sure if a car in Argentina will follow the same Bluetooth production schedule as the cars in North America. I've recently read about people in other countries not having BT as standard, etc. so I don't know for sure about your car.
I imagine you can contact BMW customer relations and give them your VIN number. They should be able to tell you what is necessary for BT to be activated on your car...
