I have a March 04 build. I had the car in to the dealer yesterday for the BT upgrade. Everything seemed to go well. I bought a Moto v551 phone, it paired fine. I can make calls, but can only hear the person on the other end of the call. They can not hear me. I have the car back to the dealer today.

I have a bad feeling that my problem is that I am caught in the middle of the March transition to the updated TCU. If that is the case, I am dead because I will not pay $2K for a new TCU. Additionally, they charged me $85 to do the software update/retrofit, that I will try to get refunded.

Does anyone have any input?
Thanks
K

I confirmed today that my March 04 build which was software upgraded to BT was still not able to effectively implement BT. I was able to pair the phone, make and receive calls, hear the other party, but they could not hear me.

As was noted somewhere on this board my TCU was an old one that didn't work. I had the upgrade done yesterday, took the car back to my dealer today. The had the car most of the day. When I returned to pick up the car they had replaced the TCU under Warranty. I can't tell you how happy I was that they did this.

You are very fortunate to have had the TCU replaced under warranty. There are many of us with March 04 builds that ended up paying for it ourselves.

I had my May 2004 build 545 programmed and activated for Bluetooth 3 weeks ago. I had to contact BMWNA who helped my dealer SA figure out what needed to be done. It works! But you must carefully follow the BMW Bluetooth manual. It was tricky to get the phone to pair up. Once I was successful (it took several tries) all functions work. I bought a Motorola V551 on Ebay because it was only one of a few phones that all of the functions that should transfer to to the car actually do.

Good luck with yours . . .

Main problem, though, is that people think I am calling from an echo chamber
