Hi all,

The is the uglest part of the forum and is filled with confusion and chaos, as we all try and make a overpriced feature in the car work, which something that cost A$200 for a bluetooth wireless headset can fix ( to a degree). the challenge and time spend on the car and its options could be best spend on real things in life.

So keeping in perspective and having read the material in this TOOTHLESS space of "am I Blue", I did the following.

Pulled off the LEFT HAND SIDE COVER IN THE BOOT/TRUNK (American speak provided), to reveal NO TCU for my 04/2006 E60, with the SIB (which we all know and love) just not there or me here in Australia. So the local BMW dealer wanting A$2,000 is way over the top and not a viable option (after I gave them my VIN number and they looked me up on the National BMW Database).

My job is to see if I can find the following, which can be added to my BLUETOOTH PREPED/HARNESSED/CABLED CAR

84-11-6-942-592 -- in cars produced from 09/03 - 02/04 (MY 2004)
84-11-6-948-921 -- in cars produced from 03/04 - 08/04 (MY 2004)
84-11-6-955-688 -- in cars produced from 09/04 and on (MY 2005)

(if these are applicable here in Australia )

From this I can then see if BMW will do a 3hr install on the right CTU for me to then get my SmartPhone(doPod) to sync.
Current ProgMan/CIP is V19.0

Here is a photo (from DoPod Phone) of what I discovered, all cables/plugs ready to be used ( i think), but no little TCU box. I think it looks like other photo's in the Forum, which Ive seen without the unit in place.

Nothing strapped in place and no green sticker boxes which can be enabled thru the iDrive. So it looks like BMW did this to SQUEEZE A$2000 out of customers as upgrades. No wonder no body took them up on it.

So any feedback on a working TCU for a post Mar2004 E60 which can be found, would be appreciated, so I can see what other options I can look at. All this and I have only had the car for a week, man I must be nuts or else Im catching some weird desease.

Imagine if it is something really hard, it could take me months to understand and RESOLVE, thank goodness for the Forum.

Any feedback appreciated and congrats to the guy who got the new 535d, its the MADEST, I love the new shifter.
More switches and feature than the Space Shuttle.

It's hard to tell from those pictures that you are missing a TCU since they're zoomed in too much -- I can't get a perspective on what point-of-view I'm looking at. The first photo looks like some of the connectors that are normally not connected to anything. The second photo looks like it could be the TCU area but I'm not sure.

In the following picture, the TCU is the unit with the green dot (thanks to Lomag for the pic):
