Hi All,
I have a 2006 M5 and am planning to switch from the iPhone 3GS to the BB Bold 9700. If anyone is using the 9700, can you please tell me how good the whole sync'ing and name transfer, etc etc is? How has your overall experience been with the 9700? Any compatibility issues with sync? Any issues such as call-drops after 3 mins; sudden disconnections from iDrive; etc?
Do you recommend I make this shift? My main issue due to which I cannot stand the iPhone 3GS, is the battery life. It really sucks. So my two options are a Nokia E52 or a BB 9700. Which do you recommend between the two wrt compatibility with my vehicle and also general usage in today's time / battery.
Hope to get your help soon!
Kris

The 9700 will give you the same battery life as the 3Gs. I've had both so I know and went back to the iPhone. The better question to ask is what is more important to you? Do you need corporate email and a real qwerty keyboard or do you want ease of use, great web browsing, and app store?
The 9700 syncs up fine with no issues. I have my corporate email on my 3Gs and it works great, but the BB is a little better in that respect. If your only issue is battery life keep the iPhone and get a car charger or one of those extended battery cases.
Good luck

the 9700 syncs beautifully with the e60. i had the iphone 3G prior to the 9700. you can listen to voice memos through stereo bluetooth, i think it's the same with the iphone. battery life with the 9700 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the iphone 3g. 9700 lasts me 2 to 2.5 days per charge. iphone lasted me about 8 hours.

The dropped calls are more symptomatic of the crappy AT&T network than the iPhone. The 9700 is a good phone, the choice between the two is more about how you use your phone than about the battery life of each. At my job there is a good mix of iPhones and BB's - the BB's end up having way better battery life, hands down.

I totally agree- Batt Life of the 9700 is much much better than the iPhone. iPhone was rather ridiculous. By lunch time, 40% was done! By 5pm, I had about 25% remaining. I earlier had trouble connecting to the E60, but managed to succeed at that day before yesterday. Its really good now.
Is there a snap in adapter for the 9700?

I've been running the BB since it came out, and for the most part, the link into the E60 is perfect. When you first sync, I've found that it takes a few minutes to get all contacts downloaded, but connectivity is brilliant, and I've had no unexpected disconnections in 8 months, however it's not trouble free.
The downsides:
Firstly: Call waiting / answer second call does not work. For some reason, the first call will be put on hold, the phone will answer the second call, but neither party can transmit or receive audio. Don't quite know how, but with the 6 E60's that are in my company, this is a problem across all of them.
Secondly: phone battery life. Mine lasts until about 1500, however I am a heavy phone user. If I'm in the car, I'm on the phone, and I average 160 miles a day. I keep a charger in the car, but I have noticed that if you are on a call and running bluetooth, the charger will maintain battery level but not increase it.
All said, I've had Nokia's & I-phones, and despite it's problems, the blackberry is the best of them all. No conenction problems, no live call issues.
