While waiting for things to settle down on the BMW Retrofit debalce - and for prices to come down - I am looking for advice on a 3rd party Bluetooth kit.

I dont really want anything 'fitted' as I intend to upgrade to the integrated kit as soon as economically viable.

Has anyone any experience of in-car kits that can be used ?

You can buy my Visorcom. It clips to the sunvisor.

How does it charge ? Do you need to run a lead from the visor down to the ciggy lighter ?

With a fully charged battery, the Handsfree Car Kit has a standby time of about 25 days and a talk time of approximately 15 hours

This one looks easy also: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/2452.htm

I to am waiting for a viable solution to the intergrated system, so in the mean time i have imployed a solution from my cell phone carrier. I have ntelos and they have yet to have a total imploye a totaly bluetooth phone they do have an adaptor kit for the Motorola v810.

The kit is a transiver the connects to the phone, and uses the phones battery for power. I then purchased a earpiece hs820, and the handsfree car kit.

They all work pretty good but i just dont like the handsfree thing on my visor.

I may have to repurchase it as i did take it back thinking that my car had that promise of intergrating it into my car.

If i do buy it again i may try to disassymble it and place it some where in the cavity where the current mics are.

I paid 299.00 for the phone 69.00 for the earpiece and 99.00 for the car adapter,

works okay but for 50,000.00 dollars you want everything to appear on that damn screen that BMW so chose to place center dash

It comes with a ciggy lighter but standy time is pretty good. You can come and pick it up to try it for a while if you like. I live in Enfield and have an office in Southall. Just let me know..

This is the slickest, cleanest solution i've seen. It is one small, compact unit that clips on your visor. No wires. You charge it at home through a wall-outlet or through your cigarette lighter in the car. The charge supposedly lasts a while. It looks good too.
