I had a 2004 e60, built October 2003. Advertisement stated that it was prewired for Bluetooth also it came with a pin code for activating Bluetooth. After many phone calls to Munch Germany and local dealers, I found out that it was not possible to use Bluetooth phones in my car, if fact there was no Bluetooth system in the car. To have the feature I would have had to pay a whopping $2500, for refit. I?ve recently order a new 2007 e60 and once again I see advertisements about Bluetooth (if so equipped). It's quite confusing and difficult to determine if US spec. cars now have the technology. I know for sure that European models have the capability to use Bluetooth phones in there cars with no problem if they select the option.

Now with all that said!

Does the 2007 US spec e60 have the capability to pair and use Bluetooth phones or will I have to have a refit installed after I buy the car?

Does anyone really know? Any facts would help
Thank you,

Based upon your car specs, you should have the capability for Bluetooth. It may have to be activated by dealer or merely setup through iDrive.

Yes.... all US 2007 E60's have BT. Nothing needs to be turned on by the dealer. You just need a phone that works.

Since 2005 all US Spec E60s have BT enabled right from the factory.

I just picked up my 07 550.

It has bluetooth and I went and bought the add on snap in adaptor and eject box for the center console so my V3 razor is wired to the antenna on the sharkfin, the power on the car and bluetooth. Upon delivery my dealer took 1 minute to sync the phone to the car and my entire phonebook on my phone was visable on the Idrive screen.

What service. My dealer wouldn't even do it for us when asked. He simply said it is easy and wanted to get us out as quickly as possible.

I guess that is what you get when you go through the internet sales. They probably did not make as much as those off the streets that buy without doing alot of research.

BTW, I paired both mine and wife's razr easily. What a great feature.

Have a March production 2007 E60 and Bluetooth works pretty well. I have a Blackberry 8700 and the initial setup was easy. Occasionally it fails to recognize the phone when I get in the car. Have yet to figure out if it's the car, or if I have somehow deactivated within the phone. Always works after I reset it.

Your entire phone book will (reportedly) show on the idrive screen, IF and only IF, your phone runs on the Microsoft Mobile OS. Bluetooth as such will work with any BT phone on your '07 E60, but if you want the address book from the phone to sync, you need the right phone...
