2004 530i Retrofitted Bluetooth
 

First I just have to say how awesome this website is and to the thanks from others who have posted topics and answers.

Alright I just bought a 2004 530i built in February of 2004 it has all the special goodies except for NAV. I

know from reading on this forum that I can take it to the dealership and get a software update to use voice recognition and have my phone integrated idrive via bluetooth.

Yes there is a microphone, and there is bluetooth integration I checked. Ofcourse when I go into communications it says to check my local BMW center. I called the people and they had no idea why idrive could possibly be saying that.

I have the original price sticker from the car and I currently have these packages: PREMIUM, PREMIUM SOUND, and SPORT. Upon reading more it says "Satellite Radio Preparation - COST: $75.00" what does that mean? It also says its been prewired for a mobile telephone. does that mean bluetooth is there just not enabled? I read the manual and it says stuff about bluetooth.

Now my main questions before spending about $200 for the update are:

1. Once the software update is in place will I be able to play music through bluetooth?
2. What will the estimated cost of the software update be?
3. Will the Samsung Galaxy S5 be able to pair up with the car?
4.What does satellite radio preparation mean?
5. Does "prewired for mobile telephone" mean that it should work?
6. If music cannot be streamed through bluetooth, what can be used to play music through my galaxy?
