ok so the harness for 119.00 is the Plug N Play kit. and the 199.99 is for the shifter Illuminated M Shifter Retrofit Kit-sfplimage688871.jpg
is it possible to make the shifter short like the M5 Illuminated M Shifter Retrofit Kit-2008-bmw-m5-touring-dashboard-1920x1440.jpg and not high up like the 5series??? Illuminated M Shifter Retrofit Kit-med_gallery_113_542_3299651.jpg

If I have already retrofitted a paddle shifter on the steering wheel which has a cable harness connecting to the steptronic shifter, then can I still do this mod? I'm just concerned about how these harnesses can be connected. Thanks.

Can this mod be done on a car with factory sports auto transmission?
Will this work for both pre-LCI and LCI cars?
How is the brightness adjusted?
Is this shifter taller, shorter, or about the same as the original?

Thanks

I believe someone has done this by replacing the shifting mechanism with a short shifter one. however, I think it would look and feel a little weird if it was too low.

This harness can be installed independently from the paddle shift retrofit kit. I have both paddleshift kit and shifter harness installed in my vehicle.

This kit can be installed on any vehicle with auto transmission as long as it has the regular automatic shiftknob. I believe LCI cars have a different shifter so it's not possible for those. I can't give away all the secrets of how the thing works but the you can adjust the brightness of the shifter.

The shifter is a little shorter than the original but not a lot so i'd say it's about the same.
