?? eas | Video Source Module (VSM) for BMW

This kit allows you to view camera/video inputs on your BMW's navigation screen. The unique picture in picture layout allows the user to view the map or iDrive screen while viewing a reverse camera feed or video source. When the car is put into reverse the VSM module automatically activates the reverse camera display; when the car is taken out of reverse the camera display is deactivated.

The optional camera fits into the BMW trunk by replacing one of the license plate lights for an OEM look and fitment. With an integrated LED license plate light, no functionality is lost after replacement. The camera is equipped with an ultra wide angle lens allowing you to see what is behind the car as much as possible. The VSM module allows you to overlay a parking distance apex grid on the reverse camera display.

Features
Audio/Video Source Selectable by OEM Steering Wheel Buttons (CANbus)
Picture in Picture (PIP) Function
Automatic Reverse Camera Activation
Parking Distance Apex Grid Overlay
1 Camera Input
3 Audio/Video Inputs
RGB Video Input for those using CARPC Displays
NTSC, PAL Auto Detection
Small footprint allows for easy storage behind dash

Models Supported
2004-2010 iDrive equipped e60 5-series, including M5

Imported overseas from one of the best CCTV Security Surveillance equipment manufacturers in Taiwan, Misumi is well known for applying state-of-the-art CMOS Image Sensor Devices (Camera On A Chip) to the design and manufacturing of security surveillance video cameras.

These kind of cameras incorporate high technology used to minimize the size of the cameras and produce a crisp and clear picture quality. The small and indestructible design allows for mounting virtually anywhere on the vehicle without the need for drilling.

The "bumblebee" camera gets its name from the mounting bracket that can be mounted virtually anywhere from underneath the decklid next to your license plate or underneath the rear spoiler. This is perfect for newer BMWs that do not feature a keyhole, eliminating the need for drilling. The camera features a 150-degree maximum viewing angle and a 0.5 LUX rating for low light viewing, even in dark areas.

The camera is an additional $139 for either the Bumblebee camera or the License plate light camera. I suggest the License plate light camera mainly because it's a lot cleaner and easier to install.
