My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
My dealer has a new 07 B7 Alpina (1 of 400) on the floor, with a discountable $117K sticker. But, I am in there for repeated gadget service on a stock 545 sport 6 speed and wonder how these LOCAL guys would handle this beast.
I love its looks; it seems they have even toned the Edelweiss blue down a bit. for this one.

Anyone here have any experience? I remember on one of the other sites, a Swiss guy having great luck with them, but I wonder about US service for such a high-spirited beast.

My Ride: 2005 BMW 545i / Black Sapphire Metallic / 6spd. manual / Sports package
There is a BMW dealer a couple blocks from my house and they were loading one onto a tow truck (I suppose) to have it delivered to it's new owner and I have to say the B7 looks a hell of a lot better in person rather than in pics. Especially the rear end. Just my $0.02.

Saw one cruising on Route 17 in Northern New Jersey last week. It had a car manufacturer's licence plate on it. I must say it looked quite posh. The older bloke driving it, with his wife(I presumed) alongside looked like he was a bit bored with slow moving traffic.

BMW Alpinas have their own Blue color and wheels.
Alpinas are not always faster (but usually are) but have more "finess".
Meaning a more comfortable and stylish car than the origin.
At all tests in EU mags I read, the Alpinas win the original, even the current M5.
But they need service as all cars, but "normal" BMW dealers do not usually deliver that.
