I think the side profile looks good , the rear is great but the front is just blawww !! they missed the opportunity to knock the S off the pedestal......................close but not quite there !

Gene 07-03-2008 07:41 AM

Backlights look like a lexus. Weren't those backlight also on a possible F10 design also?

+1 for being underwhelmed...bring on the F10 :D

houbmw 07-03-2008 07:59 AM

RJH&CO 07-03-2008 08:06 AM

s class takes the cake again. :-(

tex_phil 07-03-2008 08:11 AM

Back side angle looks like a freaking avalon! :barf:

Heloha 07-03-2008 08:15 AM

Other than the kidney grills, not sure I see any CS elements??? ...please point out if I'm just missing them. :geek:
Over all, I think its still my best choice for next vehicle. I hope the twin turbo V8 really makes it in!!!

KnIgHtCoM 07-03-2008 08:52 AM

The styling looks more evolutionary rather than revolutionary.

Eugene134 07-03-2008 08:54 AM

nasty looking, those grills look like huge nostils

U-G-L-Y !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:barf:

Effeckt 07-03-2008 04:17 PM

Meh, I think it more or less is the same 7 as always but I actually like the current model's lines more than this one here.

Backseat center console idrive control..wow...interior still doesn't make up for the exterior short-comings IMO....

ITNurse 07-03-2008 09:54 PM

Changes are too subtle. Grills too large. Not a great looking car. Sometimes cars grow on you...this one might not!

I am already looking forward to the LCI refresh of the front end... :(

IMHO There are probably a number of styling goofs ... one in particular caught my eye (or rather poked me in the eye)!

Aside from the Mack truck sized BMW grills ... it's the toooooo pronounced LED's in the headlamp assembly.

I know everyone wants to follow Audi's lead with LED's for everything but when I spend six figures for a car I don't want the front end shouting - LOOK at my LEDs whahooooo.

I also feel they detract will from the unique headlamp halo - a feature that should be promoted. So, IMHO, they could have provided the benefit of LED lighting w/o making them look like aftermarket add-ons!

Maybe the LEDs will start to be called "eyelashes" now?

I'm not as opposed to the new look -- just like the E60, there will be differing opinions but as we've said before, sometimes when a design is new, it looks odd at first but then grows on you. To me, that's the sign of a design that won't get stale or look old too quickly...

I agree on the odd things that grow on me [opps that might be misinterpreted :ermm: ] -- eg the Bangle-Butt has become a much copied styling cue. As for the LED eyelashes ... no, these look more like multiple eye syes :(

I have posted for some time now pics of future BMW models.

The big and high front grill is here to stay, I'm afraid.

The reason is EU regulations for pedestrian safety in a city accident.

yes, I agree that the flat front is an unfortunate byproduct of this standard. I don't know what the rules of the standard is but you can clearly see in the side profile the vertical front face of the car. I assume that this is designed to be a safer object with which to hit a pedestrian.
