No knock on the E63 but i remember during 1 of the NY club meets we had last summer...once the traffic cleared out C squared off against an E63 in his M5 and the M5 looked WAY sharper handling at high speeds during lane changes etc...

E55 definantly a fun car, but like some of you mentioned, its only great for straight lines... I think I have my heart set on a m5, I am not going to rush it, I want the exact color combo I am looking for before pulling the trigger... (first pic white with red interior or 2nd silverstone with black interior). Are 2006s problematic years in the m5s? Better to go with 07+ ?
The sales rep at benz said the m5's low end tq doesnt make it for a fun car... But than I thought to myself, my 330tq in the 645 is hella fun, I am sure another 182 horses, and 53 tq would add to "fun" lol
lol GO FOR THE M5 !!!! Unless.. you wanna pay extra for gas take the Mercedes. I agree with you, that the e55 feels too big, but in other way its just 0.5% more luxury than the m5, but the M5 feels sportier and I think for fun driving it than the benz. If you are thinking of taking an m5, take the 07 models, its just newer than the 06. I have an 06 so far no problems :) + 06 were the first production of the new design of the m5. I think it created more issues than any other years. But again, it depends on the driver.

I think the m5 is much worse on gas then the amg 55 or 63's
