What's up guys?
Well I've asked this same question on other boards with VERY limited answers. I may need a forum BMW tech or something but here is my issue:
I have the E64 (Vert) and the wife and I take intermittent trips to visit the in-laws. As you can see from my avatar I have aftermarket wheels so no more runflats.
I am looking for a space saver wheel to throw in my trunk when I take these long trips. I'd hate to be stuck far away with no spare. I called BMW and spoke to parts and they informed me that the X5 space saver spare would not work because of the hub difference. Leather Z has a space saver but won't fit on my car as well.
Anyone have any kind of info or direction I can go. Advice?
Worse case scenerio is I'd have to throw the stock runflat in the truck or back seat to take on those trips(what a freakin pain that would be).
Thanks ahead of time!!

If you have the E64 - why are you after the X5 spare and not the E64 spare? Does the E64 not have a single model that comes with normal tyres and hence force BMW to give you a spare?

I've got a compressor kit from BMW, which also includes some sort of foam to fill the tire with. Although I guess that won't help with a large leak....

What worries me more then a leak is a bent rim. I've had experience with that with my E65(Asanti Wheels). Once you bend that rim there is no amount of sealant that will help that issue temporarily.
You're right about that.....the only alternative I can think of, is using an e60 spare tyre for long distance runs and use the sealant/compressor kit for short trips.

Look into the previous gen X5. That one has the same 72.56 center bore as the 6. The New X5 is a 74.1 center bore like the E39 5 series.

Here is what one of my data books says.
E53 X5 - 2001-2006 - 72.56 Center bore
E70 X5 - 2007-2009 - 74.1 center bore
E53 X5 - 2001-2006 - 72.56 Center bore
E70 X5 - 2007-2009 - 74.1 center bore
Did the E53 come with a space saver spare tire?
Thanks!
