I can get the paddle steering wheel from BMW at wholesale price. The idea is that everyone donates a little towards the DIY so I can post it. If we can't get the $ together everything will be refunded respectively. I set up a paypal account @ "paddleshiftproject@hotmail.com" for this purpose.

What does everyone think?
DIY for the sixer is the same as for the fiver, there is no difficulty if you have the steering wheel and Fred's kit. Fred's kit comes with a clear DIY, it is easy! It si actually in the sixer easier to hide the cable which goes to the gearlever.
So, save your money and just do it. You'll love it......

Fred = my530i

You should ask or PM him for a price

BTW: I was not implying you as not getting it, but that was a reply on Lucardes

Doc I was talking about the SMG shifter not the wheel were both talking about something different. Because you can have paddle shifters without the SMG shifter to work with your auto shifter. But I saw someone in Bimmerfest forums that did it so he has his steering wheel paddles to work and also swapped his auto shifter with SMG and got them to work. The trick is to have it on sport mode and in steptronic mode to get the paddles to work.
