I'm basically looking for any witnesses...I was driving my 645 to drop my kid at the daycare today, January 4th 2010 at 9am in Fort Worth, TX, on I30 East, just before the ramp to I35. The car in front of me (Silver Ford Focus, I believe hatchback) swerved to the left real fast as I was changing the lane (into his), and after he swerved I saw a giant (probably truck) driveshaft sitting in the middle of the lane. I had no time to do anything so I went over it. It tore up the heck out of my underside, broke front subframe, engine mounts, sway bar, put a hole in the body and one of the cats, tore off the muffler, etc, etc - see pics below.

There was a white Ford F150 behind me. If anybody saw this, please contact me. I just need some witnesses for my insurance.

Luckily, no body damage, and everything else can be fixed. Meeting with adjuster tomorrow. I'm sure there are several grand worth of damage here. I just hope the mount of the block is not broken off - cause I think they will total the car then....

Holy Crap!!!! That sucks, glad you're okay. Wow, a driveshaft can do a ton of damage. Good luck with the repairs.

Yeah, I didn't expect that much damage.... I actually kept driving to my destination and the car felt solid!
But my dealer said I was lucky that my subframe didn't fail at the crack.

Sounds like you were pretty lucky, good thing too or it would have been worse. Let's hope everything turns out okay.

Well, the adjuster just looked at the car - it is definitely going to be fixed.
The estimate is almost 8K!
