That is a lot of inventory.

For the same price, I would much prefer a loaded 911S Cabriolet.

My hunch is that the M6's are not selling as well as the M5's because the M5 is (i) just as good as the M6, (ii) $10,000 less, and (iii) with 4 doors and more rear leg room, more pratical.

Interesting. And a quick search shows only 5 new M5s for sale in the Dallas area.

Same here in Chicago - the are 27 M6s for sale! (only 7 M5s).

Time to get a deal on an M6?

I noticed the other day that they did not have a premium on the M6 in Las Vegas which they did have in the past.

I think the problem is they waited way too long to get the car here. We all saw the car close to two years before we could ever get it. Then the whole dealer issue with them telling us if we wanted one it would be 10k premium over msrp. Couple that with the fact that the 6 series is a heavy, overweight car and it seems the styling cues didn't quite strike the chord they were hoping and now you have inventory on a car they very poorly planned, marketed, etc. Why buy a heavy M6 for 100k when you can get a number of things that out perform it right off the lot, and without the hassles of the i-drive and all the other annoying electronic bs we do not want nor need?

Drive the M6 and you will do whatever it takes to get one. Thats all I gotta say.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.
No, I'm not saying the M5 can match the M6. As a matter of fact, the M6 will beat the M5 in just about every performance category. What I'm saying is that I don't believe the increases in performance over an M5 is justifiable by the increase in price...and with the M5, you've got a car that's more practical (assuming you can convince yourself that 12mpg in the city is practical :'( ).

I have a feeling the same will be true with the upcoming M3. Depending on the performance of this vehicle (still no official engine specs), it may very well steal potential sales from the M5.

On 14 Feb 07

M6 Cabrio = 64 US wide on dealer lots
M6 Coupe = 64 US wide on dealer lots

I am surprised. I think the distribution is skewed and that some markets just cannot handle the ones they get while other locales are hurting for stock.
