since being almost done with the retrofit for the paddles i gave HUD retrofit a thought since it was mentioned by someone on the thread.
This requires a little more thought and planning so i'm starting with planning out the parts that will be needed.
Here's the HUD trim piece that will go into the dash. Cutting into it won't be a big problem as long as it's positioned properly.

Unit - a few euros on eBay
Dashboard: you could try to modify the factory one
Windshield: I had to replace it for other reason and I installed HUD glass, but your insurance can always help you.
But at this point? Nobody knows what to do.
