I have been thinking of picking up surfing again, but I just thought I couldn't.
But seeing your pics makes me wonder again!
Do you have any close up pics of the fixation?

The rack I have is a strap rack system. It's basically 4 sets of straps. 2 go inside the car and 2 go over the board. It's a steel core inside the strap with locking clasps. It's not nearly as quick and nice as a Thule system. I would pay for a custom built rack if they offered it. I will try to snap some pics of it. The only crappy part about the straps is that the windows need to be down slightly to not trip the safety feature that forces the window to roll down. This would suck in a big rain storm if you cant have the car covered. Here is a link to the rack http://www.steelcore.net/products.html

First time I've seen that. Looks great. Racks always make me nervous, though. It's not as bad as a bike with all kinds of metal just waiting to scratch I guess.

Yeah I was worried about the paint but since the moonroof on the 6 is so huge the pads are both rested on the glass and not the paint. The shaddowline trim also keeps the straps from touching the paint on the side as well. If shit does hit the fan then I have a Flex DA orbital and tons of detailing stuff to fix the scratches. I bought a DaKine board bag now to prevent the board and car from scratchign each other when loading and unloading. It's got a reflective top to reduce the heat on the board during the day which is needed down here.

It's just two foam half circles that come with the soft rack. Nothing special. I will get some pics next time I mount the board up.
