Hey everyone ,

Im shopping for rims right now, 19 or 20 inchers for my 645ci ....just wondering if it is worth spending the extra money on forged rims ? Does it make a big difference in performance and quality of the rim ? I don't really drive like a lunatic but will heavier rims make a big difference in speed , handling , etc. ?

Just wondering what your experiences are like.

Thanks!

Joe

In a nut shell, yes it's worth it.

Forged wheels are lighter and stronger than cast wheels. Lighter wheels will give you better acceleration, handling and braking. Stronger wheels will be less proned to being bent.

That said, if you go up in size, your bigger tires will also add to the weight so even though some 20" wheels are lighter than some 19" wheels, with the tires, the overall package might be heavier. Even then, it's still better to go with a lighter forged wheel then a heavier one, cast or forged.

Not only are forged wheels lighter, but they look HELL of a lot better than most 1pc wheels. You must go with multi peice wheels especially if you want custom sizes, big lips and so forth. If you spend 50+ k on a car, plan to dish out atleast 4-6gs on wheels.

Whats wrong with $900 22" Chrome Gio Wheels with Wanli tires on a $50,000 car?
