Decided to keep the car little bit longer, picked up a new suv for winter... But question is, is it worth spending $400-500 on getting a ecu remapped/tuned whatever you want to call it done? They promise approx 20hp, 25tq gains. For who that have got it done, did you feel the difference? Worth it? Or better spending that money on other mods? Stratus650 I know you got an ecu remap, your thoughts?

I don't have a remap, but I've consulted several mechanics (last was Calton's recommendation, Bruce) and all have stated that the biggest advantage of getting a remap is not only the HP/TQ gains, but the improvement of the entire HP/TQ curve AND improved fuel economy under normal driving conditions.

I have not researched any remaps for the 6 series, so I cannot tell you definitively one way or the other, but I just wanted to point out these two benefits of a remap, so that you can better evaluate your options.

If I get the remap I will be going with Upsolute. My concern is if its worth doing. Thanks for some info! It would be great if some of you tuned 6er boys could chime in as well.

After doing the remap, I noticed the engine is more active pass the 4,500 onward. I tried a drag race from 40 km/h until 160 with a '08 650i (which is supposed to have the newly improved sport Auto tranny) and was able to pass him slowly above 150 km/h.

however I still can't pass the 335 ! lol

you will barely notice it, but on the road it might do you something. btw compare different remaps and choose the one that have the curve highest throughout the rpm range.

overall consumption is between 12.5 to 13, however i usually drive on 80 km stretchy roads with much less stop and go.

if you have an additional 400 bucks, yeah maybe its worth lol

You should be able to get input from 545/550 owners as well given that the engines are identical. I know that Brit in NJ has an ECU remap so I am sure he can give you his thoughts.

Yes, input from 545/550 owners is also welcome lol.

You cant pass a 335? After my exhaust, kn filter, and 22s lol , I can pull a 1/2 car on the 335. I bet if I ran with 19s I could pull on it hard...

You do notice a difference in torque with DSC/DTC disabled. Throttle seems more responsive and was able to get 1mpg better on a morning commute, not that it really matters! I think this might be one of the best $/HP mods you can do...depends on where your preference lies, looks or performance. Speed limiter on mine is raised (about 25%) but I haven't been up there!!!

I may have done my mods in a different order but I would recomend a remap looking at what you've done so far.

Because it reduces throttle well before something happens that could get you into trouble. If you turn it off and you pay attention you can manually throttle off if you feel the car getting ahead of itself. Even stock the car will go further than the DSC/DTC is set up to allow, you will not notice the extra HP and torque if you leave it on.
