One of the big factors in my future decision to get a 6 is the body kit changes. I know the 5 has a ton of replica parts that are damn near OE quality but what about the 6 series? Are you going to find an Mtech kit for a 650 for $800-$900? Front bumpers for $349? I'm just wondering how bad of a money-pit it will be if I pull the trigger.

P.S. - Thanks Tbal for getting me hooked on the 6 series.

Hmmm, beware the Tbal!! There are kits, but no oem other than going for an m6 part and modifying...but there may be alpina , or hamman, hartge, gforce, acs and so on if you want aftermarket tuners...there out there!

Nothing like 5 series. There are kits, but they are all SUPER expensive, and all aftermarket.
Except for genuine M6 parts, nothing is made by BMW for the car.

He wants CHEAP.... The M6 Kit from the Dealers is probably the cheapest kit on the market, I could have got two painted M6 front bumpers for my unpainted Hamann front, The M6 Skirts from the dealer, when I bought I had to check they never messed up the price they were that cheap.

There are replica M6 parts on Ebay, but if you have a Trade discount the parts will work out just as cheap for genuine, infact the guy on the UK ebay is selling replica m6 skirts for more than a genuine with the trade discount lol.

And in America you guys have dealers that sell parts cheaper than UK trade haha

So with our member discounts of 25% off BMW parts from various vendors like Garry / Tischer BMW, etc. you're clearly getting a better deal for OEM. That's astonishing. I guess there just aren't enough 6ers out there for the Chinese market to make replica parts from alpina , hamman, hartge, gforce, acs, etc.

I ask for replica because the quality of my body kit was really, really good from Trinity and its all Chinese stuff. Fitment was perfect, etc. so why pay 3x the cost for OEM? That's why I was asking.

nyceric03 05-02-2010 08:49 AM

crap I was thinking the same... lol the 6er is just too sexy and for prices nowadays awfully tempting

sdg1871 05-02-2010 09:00 AM

Haven't you learned by now Howi?? Good looking, sexy dates are NEVER cheap. Neither are M6 body kit mods.

ferio 05-03-2010 09:50 AM

Yup. No replica kits availiable for the 6ers. :( I get jealous seeing all those nice kits for the 5 with pretty resonable costs.

tbal 05-05-2010 11:16 PM

You can find these bumpers time to time on ebay, craigslist etc... Usually around 350-500 a piece.... Sideskirts are about $250 a piece brand new...

Buyer beware, I ve done a couple of body kits in my day. I bought new but never installed Hamann full body kit off a board member a couple years ago. It was not a simple bolt on. It would of require a body shop to invest a HUG amount of time to get it on the car and looking right. Sold it on craigslist, and have learned to love the refined look of the stock 6er. Just my 2 cents.

Must just be bad luck. The bodyshop I use had no trouble gettting my Hamann Front on. It doesn't look right... it looks perfect :D

And the m6 bumpers go on without any major problems. (rear bumper requires tad more work do to reverse light relocation)

louiemC 07-16-2010 08:43 AM

if you were local i would sell you my m6 rear bumper. i just got it primed. i dont think im goign to use it.

Just do it  ........ i just got an '07 650i ... this thing is a beast, even the stock exhaust note is sick :hyper: .... there is a super clean one that i passed up on located in the burbs, it was an 06 with 22k miles, with everything possible, night vision, HUD, etc ... i only passed because it was just out of warranty and it had SMG but i test drove it, excellent condition and meticulously kept by enthusiast owner ... you may be able to work a deal with him plus he still has the stock wheels (i hate the ones he has on) .... here is the listing: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=65237383&ct=p ... i hope i'm allowed to post this
