Haha, thats awesome you made the paper. But the ticket does suck. About 5 months ago, I got 3 tickets at once. Speed limit was 65MPH, and the officer clocked me going 98.
I'm suprised he didn't arrest me. I'm not sure what that equates to in KM. Total ticket cost was $980, I used my lawyer and got it knocked down to $250. I did have to take defensive and agressive driving course though.

The course might be fun (do you get an exam or so? if so, do you need to pass?)

For defensive driving it was a online course, agressive driving was in a classroom. I took tests for each one, and they were very easy. I could have passed without taking the course.
Agressive driving course was only 2 hours.
My lawyer went in my place to court, so I don't know what grounds he used. I personally think he had a "thing" with the judge, and he told me that. He said $250 would get the tickets covered. I didn't ask any other questions, haven't heard anything since.

Yeah, the Dutch are really picky about speeding, just today I almost did lose my licence??a friend dropped by with an Audi A3 SB (just a 2.0tdi though), so on ?de snelweg? I just pulled everything the car had doing 190km/h on a closed lane (100km/h allowed).
And then my hart stopped when a black Audi A4 pulled up in front of me with a sign saying, ?stop ? politie?. They gave me ticket for using the ?closed? lane and a warning for the speed, because they could not follow me that quick due to other traffic. Not the first time, a friend of mine also got lucky once because he was to fast.
To continue on topic, a specialized layer can help you a lot in lowering sentences / fines or whatever, so if your license is crucial and you can spare the buck, it is really worth contacting one.

I got a speeding ticket also yesterday in Cerritos for doing 56 on a 40mph zone. Damn this is my 2nd speeding ticket on this 535i.

I think that over the course of one year, I've gotten about 10 speeding tickets -- all from cameras. Almost all the tickets showed me driving at 61 kph in 50 kph zones.... I had kept it right under 60 kph since I thought they gave some +/- leeway but ..
it damn sucks to have to pay fines for going 2-3 kph faster than I should!!!!!! Damn...
By the way, they arrive via registered mail about 2 weeks later and are a b*tch to contest so I just pay them but now I've become a bit wary of getting registered mail! hahaha
