I hit a deep ditch were the road was under construction. They left a wide ditch between the newly paved highway and the old one. Like this: ||||old||||______||||new||||
A big bang was the result and vibration of the car while driving between 90 km/h and 130 km/h.

I went to my wheel specialist who had a look and diagnosed it for 4 slightly bent rims

Then I went to my BMW dealer who had a look for additional damage. Gladly there was none!
Except for the liitle clunck I have since the beginning when I bought the car in the steeringhouse.

The good news is that my insurance coveres it all.

The steeringhousing has been replaced now.
But waiting for the new rims to arrive from Hartge.

A possitive side effect is that I can have the damaged wheels repaired :wow:
I was thinking of doing so and have them painted satin black.
What do you think.....?????
Should I have the nuts also painted or leave them as they are?

(maybe someone handy with photoshop can help me to give me an idea of what it would look like on my car)

Sorry to hear about that Doc, but good to hear you can get it sorted via the insurance.

Those Hartge Classic IIs are my favourite rims. IMHO they are the perfect blend of looking classy and agressive, and should stay as they are!

If you have the urge to mod something on the car, IMHO do something with the front bumper or boot spoiler... but not those beautiful wheels ;)

Just the colour, the rims will be the same.

Cause I will have a full new set and the old set that will be repaired. So that is 2 full sets :wow:

I saw these on the internet somewhere:
Attachment 92569

But I was thinking of satin black (glossy would be awfull and cheap)

(Or...... I could sell one set)

Don?t paint your nuts man  :tease:

Great news you get the wheels covered by insurance. I had a similar kind of accident last spring and I had also damaged bearings...

I think those rims are beautiful in original color.

Shitty deal man! Good thing insurane is covering it tho :)

21s fit on the 5er no problem, heck you can fit 22s on them lol

Stratus650 10-27-2009 11:02 PM

Sorry to hear that :o

IMO, the current color of the wheels is the best choice.

xBMWx 10-27-2009 11:54 PM

If you do go the black wheel route, which is a more agressive look, then IMHO you would also need to upgrade your front bumper with a more agressive one, e.g. from the M6. Its the same with the E60s, which you see time and time again here, you really need the right bumpers if you're going to go the more agressive black wheel route.

However as I wrote before, I think the wheels look incredible as they are. Seeing as you have a few mods on your wish list, why not sell the repaired rims and buy something else?
