Any you 645 guys get a very very slight ticking come from the engine on cold starts? Its not that loud, but its def. there upon acceleration, but not on idle... Is this normal? It seems to fade away after hour of driving once the car is hot...

Yes I get the same thing. It almost sounds like a bad bearing in a pully somewhere. Mine only lasts about 5-10 minutes if the car is idling and it progressively goes away. I also noticed that the car runs rough and bucks a bit when first backing out of my driveway and pulling off. I am not too impressed with its cold engine characteristics.

I am also wondering if I need to take mine in for the way the tranny shifts. In sport mode many times it wants to skip 4th and go right to 5th. It also seems to downshift to 3rd when it shouldn't.

Not sure if it's the same sound but I also have a ticking noise during cold start. It actually comes on a few minutes after I let the car idle. I thought it was just common for the V10 M engines and not on other models. Worse case is I thought it was a VANOS issue but supposedly the dealer checked it out and said the noise was common.

I've heard the same tick on my 6.2L V8 as well. Eloy of RPI assured me that it was normal.

God damn technical engines lol

Anyways I had them look at it, apparently, its a "common thing on cold starts" for the 5-7 series. Blah...

But while at it, my expansion tank is cracked, some hoses are leaking, active sway bar needs to be replaced. Apparently, another bmw dealership said NO hoses were leaking, so now im confused. Hose replacement $250 plus labour! wtf? really?

New dtml pump was installed for the check emissions light that came on...

God damn it, I think i need to burn this car... rofl

It got fixed once they replaced the DTML PUMP.

Latest updates, their saying the expansion tank isnt leaking, and some of the hoses are which will be $250ish to replace! Before labour!

Also replacing active steering swaybar or something... it was leaking...

I had this ticking right after picking up my car from the dealership. It went away the next day though, haven't heard it since.. Maybe i'm not really listening though because I always have my music on everytime im in the car. I'll check it out next time I take the six out.
