I have Bridgestone Potenza run flat tires from the factory on my 2008 650i.

I have a very small screw in the tire. About 1/2 to 1" in from the outer edge of the tire. I removed the screw and it is barely leaking. Put soapy water on it and it barely bubbles

Three questions:

- Can it be patched?

- Is it covered under BMW's bumper to bumper warranty?

- If it can be repaired --should I go to my BMW dealer or a reputable tire ealer.

Thanks!!!!!!!

A Bridgestone dealer repaired my RFTs, twice. So yes, it can be done. I'd go to a BMW or Bridgestone dealer. Not many shops can repair RFTs.

Not without compromising performance. My advice is to buy normal tires.

You can repair RFT if they have not been driven on without air. Although in your situation it is not safe since it is within 1" from the sidewall. They will not repair it.

Unless you bought extended warranty for the rft no it will not be covered. Secondly, regardless of what bmw says, yes they can be patched, its just a regular tire with stiffer sidewalls which makes it "run flat"

This will suck if a very small puncture causes me to buy a new tire....

I bought the Tire Warranty (which I have never done before) simply because of the RFT's. It wasn't cheap ($800) but covers the tires for 3 year/60000kms and the rims if they get damaged from a tire blow-out. They just replace them rather than repair them...

Depending on the location of the hole, and the condition of the sidewall, it CAN be patched. It does not have to be a Bridgestone dealer. Just make sure you are bringing it to a qualified shop. Make sure that they are using the plug patch, and not just a plug or patch alone.
