Anyone having trouble getting their wheel aligned from shops other than BMW? I just went to toyota, which just picked up a new alignment system, and they told me they needed a special tool to get my wheels aligned. I then went to BMW and they said not many shops can aligned Active steering and the dealership is charging $250 for an alignment, does this sound about right?

BMW special tool : 32 3 190

bullshit, its not any different than cars with NON AS... I had my car aligned few times at various places... Goto a different place, $250 for alignment is WACK

Beats me man, my concern was that "special tool" to adjust the camber and if AS or nonAS was any different. No way I was going to pay $250 for the alignment.

Yeah I too thought it was all BS but it's not. They need to do some adjustments in the AS unit. Sometimes it might work and sometimes it won't and you will have to take it to the dealer. I also heard the dealer can't align on aftermarket rims. If you notice all bmw rims have the holes around the lugs. Those are for the alignment machine to hook onto. They are even on wheels from tuners like ACS etc. They might be able to swap with some OEM rims laying around the dealership (size might be an issue).

that defeats the purpose of doing an alignment if they cant align non oem wheels damn bmw sucks at so many things i love da shit out of these cars though

That is why i said size might be an issue. There is an OEM 21" wheel that comes on the 7 series. They might be able to swap just to align.

I highly doubt they'll snag a set of 21's from a 7 just to get my ride aligned. But I guess it's worth a try!! You try to get all the little things for your car (AS) and it ends up costing you more money in the long run! I love my 6!!!!!
