My wife's Lexus SC430 lease is up and I'm trying to get her to look at the 2008 650i convertible for her next toy. Everything she has come up with as far as reviews and articles contradicts each other . One says the 550SL is king, and the next says it's an unreliable piece of crap. Same thing for the Jag. Any info or experiences would be appreciated since I'm totally biased towards the 650i but she showed me a Car & Driver article that has it finishing 4th only ahead of the Caddy XR.

Personally I would go with the MB , it is a classic, and by far the best looking production convertible on the road. IMHO

Cheers

I personally think the 650 convertible is beautiful and better looking than the others. The Benz is a bore to me, but I find all Mercedes boring to look at and boring to drive. JMHO

Take a drive in the Jag - it's a phenomenal drive, you'll be amazed how nimble it feels. It's an awesome GT. I actually had an XK8 coupe on order before I got my 997 - at the end of the day I was able to get a better deal on the Porsche so I went with that but the XK is a very fine car indeed.

Ditto on the Jag ... vastly improved reliability and service these days. And it's one of the sexiest automotive designs ever.

The Jag is really nice looking, but I didn't like the quality of the materials. My wife drove one and the seatbelt holder came off in her hand. The glove box seems to be made of some sort of tupperware. I just think that for $90,000 they would take care of the minor details and use a better quality material especially in the interior. I also didn't like all of the exposed wiring in the convertable compartment. She did like the car though.

NO SL please..
Jag and 650i is a dilemma.
They both are nice.
But MB just doesn't feel rite.

I didn't drive the SL but was the passenger when my wife test drove it and it seemed pretty fast but not as planted as I would like. Maybe it was because I wasn't driving, but I am partial to BMW. The 650i felt a lot better especially over some bad roads. I really don't care at this point because after she gets one or the other I can really up the ante for my next ride  M5, M6, maybe even the new M3.

for me the 650 is the way to go. for some reason the design of the SL is getting old. in my opinion, BMW has made this 6 a classic. its a car you will definitely want top keep
