Alright guys, I'll post a full DIY when it's complete but since ol T is impatient here's some updates i have sofar:)

1.) Steering wheel fitted with buttons for the shifting.
2.) All I need now is the SMG steering column parts which shouldn't be much and i'll b set

By the way, this is my intellecual property and shared with E60 Board members. It is in no way to be distributed to other forums especially bimmerfest. If you want to check it out and get advice, come here.

Very nice. I'm assuming you are running auto w/steptronic, no?

Just saw the other thread, so never mind the previous question.

Very interested! This could be a nice winter project.

I've been considering a retrofit HUD myself; just not too thrilled with cutting holes in my dashboard...

Nope. There's nothing available on it that I've seen (I've searched a few sites). I did see an eBay seller who had a brand, new one, roughly $3k.

That said, it seems a possibility.

It's not about being too cheap. Once i get it working with the buttons i can get the actual steering wheel. my point is that i'm not going to spend 700 bucks for a steering wheel if i'm unsure how it all comes together. Since nobody that offers kits for this is willing to share the info on how to actually do it, which in itself bugs the hell out of me, I figured this would be the best way:)

This way you can try it and see if you like the whole paddle shift/button concept... imo i dont like it, its useless, i absolutly hate the feeling of the paddle shifts and using them... Just looks cool. rofl

As far as being cheap..
why even bother doing paddle shift mod, why didnt you buy car with it to begin with... why do people do, m6 bumper upgrades, steering wheels, clusters, wheels, when they shouldve bought a m6 instead... cheap? perhaps its questionable i say... or is it being different? individuality? hmm
