Found a good amount of oil underneath the engine on the garage floor this morning. :( Problem may have been on going since my last oil change, i just didn't notice it before because my garage was a disaster before the current make-over. Also a few times somebody wiped the floor without me knowing...

Any thoughts. I will jack it up tomm and see where its leaking from...

To confirm it's your car, next time you park spread a large piece of cardboard or newspaper under your car ... wait a few hours and check the paper. That will also help isolate the location if it is yours. That may save you the aggrivation of getting underneath and removing splash cover etc.

If the leak is yours and seems to have happened after an oil change, the most common cause is related to "O" rings and drain plug seal. Sometimes those are left off [ forgotten] or doubled up [forgotten to remove old one] ... either case will cause leaking and are very common issues.

Well had it checked by BMW today, and they confirmed (also I saw) that the tranny oil pan is leaking. Needs a new gasket, and is NOT covered under CPO warranty :( They quoted me..

$50.47 Gasket
$220.40 Oil
$137.55 21 M6x31.5 Screws

Labour $376.75
Misc $29

Tax $97.70

Total of $911.87! Wow lol

Went to a local BMW shop they said about $375 plus oil, so about 500$ mark. Still seems high...

why isnt covered under warranty? is it considered wear and tear?

take it to nixon and see what they quote you

So you got the tranny fluid fully flushed?

Should be covered under CPO. That's rediculous!

tbal 07-20-2009 11:44 PM

Apparently gaskets and seals are not covered. Althought according to the website it says "automatic transmission" covered... Shouldnt that mean everything to do with it? Gasket considered a wear n tear?

Anyhow... The oil needed to do the work is HARD to comeby and stupidly over priced at the stupidship. I found some alternates what do you guys think? Either Castrol Import Multi Vehicle ATF Oil or Royal Purple MAX ATF oil. What BMW uses is code "Shell M-1375.4" for the oil. Both products list BMW, and 1375 will work...

After some digging, I found SIB 240806 which states: A/T Fluid leaks from the oil pan area

situation: transmission fluid leak comming from the area of transmission oil pan.

Procedure: On a customer complaint basis:

1. Drain and save fluid
2. replace sealing sleeeve and oil pan gasket
3. gasket installation
4. bla bla
5. top up fluid

:D muahahha my dealership can go f$%^ themselves when I show up tomm with this SIB.
