Is the 5 series basically the same as the 6 Series

The 6er's suspension is much harder, the 5er's is more comfortable.

Driving back to back, I find the 6 more comofortable.
I guess it's the tires. On the 5 I have the Dunlops and on the 6 I have the Bridgestone. Both have air to their rec. pressure.
If you read some review, they will state the same thing. Can there be something different in setup?

I also love the look of the 645i, although the fanny pack still looks a little funky. I really wanted the comfort seats available on the 545, so the 645 did not make the cut - plus the $13K extra didn't help its case.

The price is higher, because it's the sports coupe, but lower than it would have to be if it was the sports coupe of the 7er. Also, there are the features of the 5er in it, not the 7er, such as HUD and NO NightVision (yet)...

Mechanically, it's basically the same car, with some 'performance upgrades'. Most significant is it sits lower, and weighs a bit less. The suspension is tuned a bit stiffer, but mechanically that's about it. Straight line acceleration will be almost identical, but track performance will be a bit better because of the lower CG and the lower weight.
From a styling standpoint, I like the 6 series a lot. Especially the interior, it's much more like a 'cockpit' than the 5 series. I also like the interior trim, the interior and exterior color chioces, and the exterior styling better than the 5 series.
However, for what the car is, I think the 5 series does it's job better. The 5's are the best luxury sport-sedan on the market, period. Nothing really comes close.
I think the 6 series is designed to appeal to a pretty small market. You're basically paying for looks and style. The 6 is a relatively big, heavy, luxury GT. If you look at what you get for the price premium over the 5 series, it doesn't make a lot of sense. I really don't buy the handling advantages of the 6, because if you really want a car that handles well and seats 2, get a Porsche. If you want a practical car that handles really well, get a 5 series.

[/quote]Thats right and the composite trunk lid that allows the antennas to be mounted there rather than have the shark fin.
Isn't that a hoot. It almost looks like the other end of a MM3 or Trident (Polaris, Posideon) reentry. I was on the receiving end of many of those over the years as well. Some with multiple reentry bodies aimed right at my head (well I thought so)
This was one of the soothest countdowns ever for a Delta II booster. No more this year. 4 months on station checkout for this new modernized GPS before the go ahead to launch the rest of the birds.
