I personally would not buy one (a 4dr 6 Series) but it's a good car to compete against the CLS! Because IMHO, CLS looks like a more female-type of a 4dr coupe car! I think the 4dr 6 Series could be a very good alternative for males who wish to purchase a 4 door coupe car!

I just HOPE that the next F13 6 Series will not look like the F10!

I do not ever stress...ever. People or cars disappoint me - then I ditch em.
And so here we have the perfect example of a BMW driver who is not a BMW enthusiast....

If you knew anything about the history of BMW you would know that since the 1st 6er that the 6series has always been classed as the 2door version of the 7series

BMW e23

bmw e24

I assume your ramblings to the fact that the 7series is pitched to have a more sporty looking version like the CLS. Also the 6series is a GT not a sports car

When I said no I was of course referring to MY11 (2011). MY11 will still be the e63/64, which of course will not change. Now if your really mean the F12/13 to be a MY12 then you may indeed see a 4-door something based on a 6er, but I would bet it still will not be a F12/13 but some other model. As many have seen by now BMW intends to cover every combination/permutation so as not to leave any owner behind (sorta like "no child left behind")

Don't mean to come across like I'm arguing with you. You have a right to any opinion of course. But, IMO, BMW is not a 'sports car' company. They have some very sporting models, and the various M-series could be classified as sports cars by some folks, but I've never seen them as a player in that exclusive, rather small market.
I agree. BMW isn't a sport car company when you have various crossovers, wagons, and suvs in the line up. A premium luxury brand? Yes. But a sports car company? Nope. But i guess what you believe as a sports car is relative.

I must have missed it..did I say BMW was a sports car company?

What ever, some of the best sports cars were made by general all purpose automobile companies where they offered a sports car as one of their models.

I stand corrected - the 6 series is not a sports car.

Is the 6 series a sports car?
Is the 6 series a luxury car?
Is the 6 series a luxury sports car?
Is it a variant of the 7 series?

Answer: On the BMW website they call it a Sports Coupe.

Now back to topic. I personally like the TWO DOOR SPORTS COUPE look of the 6. If they make a 4 door, I probably will not buy one. I also think it does water down the uniqueness "6" series model line. The 6 is unique because it is a larger sportier somewhat limited luxury production 2 door model in the BMW line. To each his own - but I think BMW is making a marketing blunder.

6 Series is a GT! It's not supposed to be a track-tuned or a performance car made to set records like GT-R! It's a big, 2 door comfortable GT with BMW handling traits and so forth! It's a pure GT!

I think the 6 Series 4 door is being made because -

1. 8 Series was scrapped (which was supposed to be the original 4 door coupe version to compete with Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Rapide, Mercedes Benz CLS etc); and
2. thus make a 4 door version of the 6 Series to compete with the CLS, which is pretty much an E-Class in a coupe with 4 doors)!

BMW still lacks CL-Class version-like model, which is pretty much a 2 door version of a S-Class.

My comments have less to do with what it is (so save the future corrections and comments), but what it will become when BMW adds the 4 door version. What it will become....... is LESS unique, thus hurting the marketing value to the current 6 series, 2 door, GT, 7 series variant...or what ever you want to call us 6 series lovers......

Well my comment wasn't directed at you so why don't you 'save the future corrections and comments'?

And how will making a 4 door 6 Series make it "LESS unique" and hurt the market value of the current 6 Series? It's common sense to know that when a new model comes in, regardless of how many doors, the CURRENT 6 Series owners will have their car prices dropping any way! And to set the record straight, the current 6 Series is NOT a variant of the 7 Series, its a variant of the 5 Series. Everyone who knows about BMW knows this.

Good thoughts...

Appreciate your input.

My logic on "less unique....is that the 6er is unique due to the fact that it is a mid to full sized 2 door sport coupe. I know Audi and others have recently introduced competition. But in the BMW line, there is not a 5 series 2 door coup or a 7 series 2 door coup. You make some good points, but I like the fact that the 6 is only a 2 door. That's what makes it a 6!
