Just read an article from a Swedish mag; Auto, motor & sport, where the reporter says that BMW are very nervous for the coming premiere of the GT. During the GT presentation for selected journalists BMW themselves brought up the lacklustre receival of the X6 in regards to the design, but that it is still became a sales success. In other words, they have read what have been said about the design of the GT - which is good -and seems to realised that they failed in reaching out to the public taste.

This journalist echoes what other have written after driving the GT - it's a hell of a car and praise it a lot. So, at least we know the new 5-series will be a excellent car to drive.

P.S
For those of you that cannot refrain from clicking and do not understand Swedish, the heading says "A conceptual masterpiece",

Not necessarily as a) "auto, motor & sport" is more of a franchise than a national version of the original German one and b) I was referring also to viewpoint of the Swedish journalist.

I thought you knew that, Iceman...?

Either way those of us that can't read German OR Swedish can't read the link anyway - thanks for the try Iceman. We may have to give Krozi some homework - a translation for us German-impaired

they shoud be nervous, they've thrown countless hundreds of millions of euros on R&D on cars/savs that were not needed and can only lead to losses if they are maintained in the future...how may X6s will sell in year 3? how many GTs will sell period? how many crap X5 & X6 ///m wannabes will sell and bleed the company?

...and yet, the enthusiasts WANT something that BMW will NOT give us, ie NA POWER for ///M...there is a real market for this and BMW knows very well that we will leave if they dont give us what we want, but they seem to be ignoring their core constituents that make the Roundel what it is...great marketing decisions, build cars/savs that we dont want, and dont give their most fanatical buyers what they want, anyone care to guess where this will lead us

BMW seems to create these cars, and despite it all they sell well and are copied OFTEN!

I HATED, repeat HATED the E60 for close to a year and then I ended up buying two of them. I had an X6 sitting in my showroom in front of my office and again hated the car. Now I love it and am seriously considering it as my next car. Being someone with a history of passing quick judgement, I think that this time I'm going to sit back, wait and see.

Sounds kind of like Stockholm Syndrome.
