A Technical Look at the BMW M4 + BMW M History

BMW has released a video detailing the engineering behind the new M4 Coupe. They’ve dropped the 4.0L V8 engine in favor of a new 3.0L M TwinPower Turbo I6 producing 430 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque; that’s 74 more lb-ft than before. The torque-rich inline-six will also be found in the F30 BMW M3. Even though the new engine has 25 percent more torque, fuel consumption has been reduced by 25 percent. BMW has also worked on reducing weight: the M4 weighs less than 3,307 lbs. That’s significantly less than the E92 M3’s 3,704-lb. curb weight.  See more technical highlights in the video below.
