Spied: BMW M4

The BMW M3 and M4 are due for an unveiling at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show. As we get closer to January’s introduction, we’re getting a better idea of how the production M4 will look.

In the spy shots we can see the M4 prototype looking very similar to the BMW M4 Concept that bowed at Pebble Beach.

BMW has yet to confirm what engine will power the M3 and M4, but VIN codes indicate the engine bays will cradle an S55 3.0L twin-scoll turbo I6. Determining from the S55 engine code, it would appear the M3/M4 engine is based on the 335i’s 300-horsepower N55. Output could range anywhere from 416 to 450 horsepower.
