Car Review Preview: BMW M4
I’m a pretty big BMW fan. I’ve had two BMWs in my lifetime. My dad owns a Z3. About a month ago around a test track I drove an M235i, which I absolutely loved. However, the previous M3 coupe always disappointed me; not because it was a bad performer, but the fact that at 6’4” I couldn’t fit in it.
When at the event last month, I got a chance to sit in the new M4, and joy of joys I could fit. I couldn’t wait for my chance to get behind the wheel. This week, I got my chance, finally, and it was amazing.
The new chassis, new engine and new everything on this car are amazing. The torque is insane. Before I took it out on-track I turned up all the settings to their harshest, just so I could go faster. I wasn’t disappointed.
Even with the traction control on, the car lets you slip sideways a bit when you really mash your foot into it. The car is an animal. The turbocharged inline six is transcendent. Power is always deliverable. I couldn’t feel any lag; it felt like a naturally aspirated engine.
Stay tuned for the full review later this week.
