Phew! 2 Series Active Tourer is Not Coming to America
“Keep out and stay out!” That’s what I’ve been yelling to the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer regarding its U.S. invasion. I think it heard me because word on the street (i.e. Motor Trend’s Instagram) is that it is not coming to America. Praise the Lord.
Don’t get me wrong: I don’t hate the car. From what I have seen so far with the 2 Series Active tourer, it seems to be a neat little package that will deliver comfort, practicality and a decent driving experience. It’s based off the third generation of the modern MINI Cooper — I recently drove one of those and it was brilliant, so this 2 Series Active Tourer shouldn’t be awful to drive, but it still needs to stay the hell out of America.
A car like this can only dilute the BMW brand. This car screams, “BMW only cares about profit, and is willing to dilute the brand to make more profit happen.” The thing is, BMW has MINI to cater to the front-wheel-drive market. This car is unnecessary. I am so happy it will not be defiling BMW dealerships in the U.S.
BMW, thanks for keeping this one off our shores.
