Letvision Transforming BMW 3 Series

Watch this ordinary BMW 3 Series go from a regular car to a 15-foot-tall robot in less than a minute.

The original Transformers movie had everyone itching about the possibility of an automobile transforming into a talking robot. While that’s impossible, Turkish research and development startup Letvision has found a way to make part of the dream a reality.

Letvision, as CNET reports, started with an actual BMW 3-Series and created a 1:1 scale of what a robot would look like if it were wearing a car as a disguise. The conversion is called the Letron, and, as you can see in the video below from NTD Life, looks like a real-life Transformer.

The downside to the incredible conversion, though, is the fact that the majority of the car’s interior is fitted with hardware, reports CNET. And the vehicle doesn’t actually perform like a regular vehicle, as it’s driven using a Wi-Fi controller, making it a massive remote-controlled Transformer.

With the push of a button, the 3-Series goes from an electrically-powered, remote-controlled car, to a 15-foot tall robot. And the process, as the CNET claims, is possible thanks to a combination of electric motors and hydraulics. The systems work together to send the car upwards in less than a minute.

The Letron may not be able to walk, but as you see in the video, it can move its head, arms, and fingers. And the Letron can also make sounds and various lighting changes, as well.

Think Transformers don’t exist? Think again.
