Dahler Tuning Introduces 313 Track-Focused BMW 128ti
Dahler Tuning recently unveiled their 128ti, claims offers better handling dynamics and more power than the standard hatch.
With the growing demand for EVs and high-riding models, the performance car segment is witnessing a steady decline in popularity, and the same is true for hot-hatchbacks. Unlike most legacy automakers, BMW is still dedicating its resources to developing its hatchback product range. In October last year, we reported on BMW’s 128ti offering, which was introduced to rival the likes of Golf GTI.
The all-new 128ti is quite a formidable offering, but that did not stop Saarlouis, Germany-based company, Dahler, from upping the ante with an exciting reproduction of the hatchback. Dahler Tuning recently unveiled the 128tii, which the company claims will offer better handling dynamics and more power than the standard hatchback.
When BMW first introduced its 128ti, customers and industry experts immediately drew comparisons between it and BMW’s M135i offering. Needless to say, 128ti’s performance was no match for that of the M division hatchback. As it turns out, Dahler tuning was paying attention and decided to develop a more track-focused version of the hatchback, which was assigned the moniker 128tii.
The company re-tuned the hatchback’s powerplant to produce 313 HP of power and 369 lb-ft off maximum torque, which is a respectable bump in performance considering that 128ti’s 2-liter turbocharged motor, only produced 265 HP and 295 lb-ft in its stock tune. Dahler tuning swapped 128ti’s stock exhaust system in favor of a stainless steel replacement that comes equipped with CAN bus-controlled valves.
128tii’s new exhaust system also comes equipped with ceramic-coated 114 mm tailpipes, and the tuning company claims that in addition to adding more baritones to the car’s exhaust note, the new system also improves the performance of the engine. Dahler Tuning’s BMW 128tii rides much lower than the stock hatchback thanks to a new suspension system that was specially designed by the tuner.
The suspension setup uses three-way adjustable coilovers, which are responsible for the car’s new ride height, and also improve the driving dynamics. The company also offers a lowering spring kit that allows customers to adjust the ride quality of the performance hatchback to make it more comfortable, and even mimic the ride quality of the standard car.
The company will also throw in a set of 20-inch forged rims, which will be wrapped in Michelin’s Pilot Sport 4S rubber. Dahler tuning also tweaks the bodywork of the hatchback by installing a new diffuser, a front splitter, a large rear wing, and side skirts which further highlight the hatchback’s sporty credentials.
