BMW Unveiling the New 5 Series & 6 Series on May 27

BMW 5 Series Digital Premiere

BMW is digitally premiering the BMW 5 Series Sedan, 5 Series Touring, & 6 Series Gran Turismo at 8:00 CEST on May 27.

After months of waiting and speculation, BMW has finally set a time to launch the revised BMW 5 Series. And like most major car launches in 2020, this too will be a digital, live-streaming event. Set for 8AM Central European Standard Time on Wednesday, May 27, BMW plans to unveil not only the refreshed 5 Series Sedan, but also the 5 Series Touring as well as the BMW 6 Series Gran Tourismo.

According to our sister site, Motor Authority, who recently published a series of 5 Series spy shots, the new 5 Series will likely be more of a visual refresh than a whole new generation, with larger kidney grilles and a revised front facia.

We don’t expect many changes to the powertrain lineup as the 5-Series already received some new powertrains for the 2020 model year. For example, the 530e iPerformance plug-in hybrid received a new battery delivering more electric range and the M550i a more powerful V-8. It’s possible the 530i and 540i could see more power or perhaps the addition of mild-hybrid technology with the arrival of the facelifted 5-Series.

It isn’t clear if there any changes pegged for the cabin but an updated infotainment system and new electronic driver-assist features are likely.
