BMW is preparing a new iPhone App, (sorry Android users) designed to replace and demolish the current M Power Meter. Basically, the M Power App will record data from in-car sensors and behave as a telemetry tool allowing you to gauge your performance on a particular track. Not only will the app provide a line graph displaying everything from brake and throttle inputs to g-force, fuel mileage and engine speed, but it will also overlay tracks showing acceleration and braking points, steering inputs as well as head-to-head comparisons. Lap times and speeds can be saved too.

Saved data can obviously be stored, but shared with others too for instructional purposes and not at all to show off. BMW says this app will work on any newer BMW apps equipped car. The video below shows the demo recorded at the Circuit of the Americas.
