BMW iX M60 – Meet BMW’s First Ever Electric M Car!
Milestone new iX M60 leads BMW M into the electric car era.
Meet BMW’s most powerful electric car. This 620 HP 811 lb.-ft iX M60 is Munich’s new electric flagship. It recycles fish nets and uses olive infused leather to zoom to 60mph in just 3.8 seconds and race on to a 155-mph top speed!
An Electric Milestone for BMW M
Slotting in alongside the new i4 M50, the electric all-wheel drive iX M60 marks a milestone for BMW M. The sub-brand enters the electric vehicle market for the first time in its 50-year history. Arriving this summer at $84,195 MSRP, M60 is the third BMW iX variant launched in the past year. Offering a slightly shorter 357-mile range versus its xDrive50 sibling’s 380, the newcomer balances efficiency with the kind of performance expected from an M-car.
The Tesla Model X and Audi E-tron S rival features actuator-based wheel-slip limitation and M-tuned dual-axle air suspension. Its automatic level control ensures ‘hallmark M driving experience, agility and precision’. BMW so hopes to convince M4, M6, M8 and similar owners that electric cars are good enough for them too.
The M60 uses an aluminum spaceframe and carbon cage with carbonfibre-reinforced plastic in the roof, side, and rear sections. It has blue M-branded brake calipers and M logos in the new gloss black and titanium bronze finish up front, on the side panels and at the rear. But iX M60 is less visually differentiated than petrol M cars are from their more regular siblings.
Electric M Cars Seek New Ways to Stand Apart
The reason being that electric cars are by nature quick and M versions are not as radically different to drive as petrol M cars are versus common garden Beemers. So, BMW has sought new ways for its M EVs to stand out from the crowd. M60’s look and feel is rather differentiated by unique color 22-inch alloy wheels and displays, while it also has different start-up, driving and shutdown sounds.
Step inside to find a the spacious FSC-certified wood, olive leaf extract tanned leather cabin. It uses recycled fishing nets among other materials to create its carpets and mats. There’s no center console, so the iDrive rotary controller and other knobs are found in the in the forward pard of the armrest. The iX M60 has the same gently curved display as the other iX models.
The new iX M60 runs BMW’s eighth generation iDrive infotainment it has a touch and voice functions. It has soft close doors, laser lights, an advanced park assist package, a Bower & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system, electric and massage front seats, and four-zone air conditioning.

“The BMW iX M60 is for the customer who likes the outstanding,” BMW iX project director Johann Kistler concluded. “It finds a sweet spot between driving pleasure and experience with a reliable electric driving range. “It’s a BMW and that also means driving dynamics, so it’s not only about acceleration and range. “ou can also go to the countryside to enjoy it!”
