This BMW 8 Series Goes All the Way Up to 188 MPH
The big three German automakers were once in a weird pact regarding the top speeds of their performance models. The gentlemen’s agreement stated that every car, no matter how much horsepower it generated, had to have a maximum speed of 155 mph. On the Autobahn, that’s cruising speed.
However, there are exceptions to every rule. Case in point: the following BMW 850CSi, which has clearly been…adjusted. The V12-powered GT goes nearly 190 mph.
The BMW 8 Series is one of my all-time favorite vehicles on the planet. I’m not sure why, but I do know it’s a great-looking and cool car. There’s one by my house, and every other month I try to pester the owner into selling it to me.
The fact that its limiter can be removed makes me want to buy it even more! Who wouldn’t want a 190-mph BMW from the late ‘90s?
