Safari-Spec BMW Z4 M Coupé Sells For $30,001

Safari-style BMW Z4 M Coupé can take on tough terrains as long as the going doesn’t get too tough.

BMW Z4 M Coupé is a sweet ride, but this Safari version can steal the spotlight away from even the most exotic cars on the road. The American owner of this BMW Z4 M Coupé decided to turn the sports car into an all-terrain vehicle, and the resulting car looks like something you’d find in a Mad Max movie. The car was recently listed for sale on Bring a Trailer, but since then, it has found a new owner and was sold for $30,001.

From the appearance to performance, this Coupé has seen many upgrades. The car comes complete with a custom hatch that can store two spare tires, a satin black paint job, and Baja Design off-road lights. The spare tire well has a seal to keep air, dirt, and other things out of the interiors.

To give the BMW Coupé a safari look, the car was fitted with 17-inch Black Rhino wheels that were wrapped in 235/65 Toyo Open Country A/T tires. The car rides on an adjustable Ground Control suspension. The fenders and bumpers were cut and adjusted to accommodate the oversized tires. The car’s previous owner also installed an aftermarket skid plate, for some underbelly protection.

Under the hood, this BMW Coupé retains its original 3.2-liter six-cylinder S54 motor, which produced 335 HP of maximum power and 262 lb-ft of peak torque in its factory-spec. Other modifications include the addition of an Aurora LED light bar which is mounted atop the windshield. The car also sports a carbon fiber rear lip spoiler, and the cabin features all-black leather upholstery.

The interior remains largely unchanged but gets new carpeting, dash trim, and door panels that match the seats. This safari-styled BMW Z4 M Coupé looks good, but it is not without its fair share of problems. The car was fitted with disc brakes with cross-drilled rotors on all four corners for enhanced stopping power.

However, the car’s giant tires would rub if you turn too sharply or accelerate the two-seater a little too quickly. So, don’t expect this safari-style BMW Z4 M Coupé to take on challenging terrain, because it does not have an all-wheel drive, but, truth be told, it looks like a lot of fun.
