When a viewer offered to give Samcrac his manual E39 530i for free, the YouTuber came up with a great solution for it.

Many of us would love to find a manual E39 530i for sale somewhere in clean, running condition for a reasonable price. Of course, we’d rather someone just give us the car for free, but in what world does that happen? Well, it happens in the world of YouTuber Samcrac, who routinely buys broken or salvaged cars and fixes them up on his channel, because someone did in fact give him a pretty nice E39 with a manual gearbox.

That someone is a guy named Alex, who sent Sam an email stating “I have a good car, and it needs a good home. Hoping you can help. Rather than go through the hassle of trying to sell it and only getting a couple of grand, I would prefer to just give it to you and let you figure out what’s best for it.”

Sounds pretty crazy, no? Obviously, we’d love to get more emails like this, but we don’t. What makes this even better is the fact that, as Sam says, “a lot of BMW enthusiasts consider the E39 to be the best 5-Series ever made.” It’s certainly a great generation, and you rarely ever come across these cars with manual transmissions in lighter spec, which makes this score all the more impressive.

What makes the car even more intriguing is that it’s been imported not just once, but twice, according to the paperwork. According to the previous owner, the BMW was purchased and shipped to Sweden at Volvo’s headquarters so they could benchmark the car before shipping it back to the owner. As a result, it has some pretty interesting features.

Sam informed the owner that he had a car that was likely worth around $20k, and pitched an alternative – why not raffle the car off for charity? The owner agreed, and now Sam is in the process of fixing it up and raffling it to benefit Spina Bifida of Jacksonville, Florida, a charitable organization that helps babies with the common birth defect and their families.

The E39 was in nice condition, to begin with, but did need some work as it hasn’t been driven much over the last several years. Sam is in the middle of taking care of those little maintenance items, but in the meantime, the raffle for this special BMW is already live, and you can purchase tickets by heading over here!
