OK, who's going to be the guinea pig here? $250 for a video interface is very tempting...

vendor, how does the user toggle from the normal idrive display over to the interface display? what kind of inputs are there for pre-LCI cars?

Camera switches automatically when in vehicle in reverse, video inputs are switched with idrive button,

HDMI input for smartphone mirroring.

USB charger.

Audio output for HDMI connected source .

interface will also have 4 camera inputs, front rear and sides.
