I have been wanting to upgrade my wheels for a good while now and seeing that I need new tires soon, I been looking around at my options. I really like the looks of a 20" wheel on an e60 and Im willing to deal with a little less ride comfort.

That being said... My car is a 2004 545i with Sport suspension and 8" wide front wheels and 9" wide rear wheels. The wheels Im looking to buy are 8.5" and 9.5" wide. What will this do to the off-set? A quick calculation of .25" on the outside = about 6mm. These wheels have an off-set of 35 both front and back while the factory is 20 front and 32 rear.

so.... By my hair-brained thinking...

To get to the 20 offset on the front from 35, I will need to add the 6mm for the wider rim getting me to 29, then add a 9mm spacer?

Not sure if the above is relatively correct, but if so, this would mean that I am already at 29 on the rear without any spacers and the factory is 32. Big problem, or am I over-looking some wiggle room and 29 on the back will be ok?

Help a brother out and guide me through this ordeal... I dont need any rubbing and would rather get this rright the first time and tell everyone the folks at 5series.net really know their stuff!

It would seem the rear would be ok as is with the 35mm offset, but the front would need 12mm spacers..... that is 'if' there is about a half inch clearance factory between the strut and tire.

I dunno, sure hate to get this wrong!

Also.. Do I need to drop the sidewall height size from 40/35s to 35/30s?

For anyone interested, I went with the 20" m220 knockoffs 8.5/9.5 widths and 35mm offsets. Im going to try 15mm spacers in the front and 5mm spacers on the rear and see how the fitment goes.

Currently debating if I want/can run 245/35 on the front without rubbing.
