Default BMW E60 Xi (AWD) Wheels

Hello everyone,

Iv been researching this topic a lot and I still seem to get different answers etc. So i come here with some questions.

Alright so I do know that the AWD E60s are tricky when it comes to wheels. Why? Well I heard that there is a specific offset range you got to follow. Something along the lines of 35-45.

Currently I am running a set of wheels that I have borrowed from my dad, he claims that the rear wheels are 18X9 (tire size is 275/35), and the front ones are 18X8. Those wheels from what i remember (would have to check again) have a et of 30 in the rear and 35 in the front. Now I would have to find time and confirm this to be sure.

Where am I going with this? Well lets say the wheels are 18x9 in the rear. I cant find any wheels that are 19x9 ( 19 are the size i want). For example, when I go to the car id website, provide my car info, all of the wheels, no matter what will give me only 2 choices. 19x8 or 19x8.5. And a huge range of offsets. Now when I go to ebay and actually provide my car information, I start to get wheels that are 19x8.5 in the front and 19x9.5 in the rear, with offsets starting at like 12. I am super confused at this point.

I really would like rims with lots of concaveness. Originally I wanted miro 111 wheels, but after I heard the offset idea I backed off since those where like 15 in the rear and 25 in the front or something. There was also a guy on youtube that said he was running 20s with like low offsets.

Does any one know of a thread I might have missed about Xi models and wheels? if so provide the link, also if you got a AWD E60, and you are running 19s that are staggered post up a few pictures with the specs of the wheels. I really like the look of my car now, but I cannot keep the wheels since they are my dads. I have to get my own set so he can finally cruise around in his E31.

Iv been on avant garde, rotiform, tsw and a few other wheel companies. I also almost bought the Zedd SLM wheels that were 19x8.5 front and 19x9.5 rear with 30 offset in the rear and 35 offset in the front or so. Didnt get them because when I contacted the person they said "I may have to roll the rear fenders" Which I dont want to do.

Id like a staggered setup, but if the wheels are awesome enough I can deal with a square set up as well.

Aside from interference, the front and rear wheels must have the same rolling diameter. Look in the owners manual for BMW recommended setups. You can also use any of the online calculators generally found at tire web sites to calculate tire revolutions per mile. You'll see that all the BMW setups are essentially the same revs/mile. You have to have that with AWD.

Well I'll give you my own 2 cents worth of info for the Xi.

You're looking in the wrong place if they cannot give you the size of 19X9 .. contact a few vendors here.. If you go staggered that's the size it goes with. I got a 19X8.5 square setup just to keep life simple. Offset was 33 I believe. It fits fine. In fact, I also have umm 12mm spacers I believe (it starts to get foggy) and it pushes it out nice... which would have been fine with the 19X9 no problem.

I also have it on the HR lowering springs, and there's no rubbing.. although I admit I have not loaded that car with a lot of heavy people and hit bumps The rear fenders on the E60 have plenty of space is what I'm saying. The fronts are kind of tight.. but may be able to go out a bit more.

Kasmo, please look under the Information heading of this forum. There you will see the Tire and Wheel section and many (if not all) of your questions will be answered. Tons of installed pictures in there as well.

The link below should give you some information, although over time, it has become unwieldy.

As an xi owner myself, I can verify these truths:

1. You absolutely can run staggered wheels on an xi. You just need to maintain the same rolling circumference as mentioned previously.
2. xi offsets range between 35 and 45 mm. These are very different from most other "i" wheels, which are down in the 15 - 25 range. OEM wheels have the offset stamped on the back with some exceptions.
3. Because of the offset, the "concaveness" of your wheels will be limited.
4. The availability of OEM 5 Series xi wheels is extremely limited. However, E46 (1999-2005 3 Series) and E53 (1995-2006) X5 wheels will fit our cars without issues.

Hope that helps!

Chiming in here. 528Xi. 19x8.5 +35mm Front and 19x9.5 +35mm Rear. Pretty much flush at front, rear is slightly tucked but looks a lot more flush than stock setup. Black VMR 710s. I was being a cheap ass on tires though, so I did 245/40/19 all around. Generally would be 245/40/19 F and 275/35/19 but the price difference was double.

Also I went with a thicker profile to fill out wheel wells. If you're lowering then I'd say 245/35/19 + 275/30/19 setup is fine.. But I hate the rubber band/skinny tire look when you're at stock height.

Thanks guys, I found a few sets of wheels. But i might look into more places. Like you guys said, the vendors here. I have a set of wheels that i was about to buy today but i decided to do more research. And I have checked out that thread. Might have to look through it again. I am really picky when it comes to wheels. I was eyeing MIRO 111 wheels. But then i found a set of Zedd SLM wheels. But the sizes are 19x8.5 front with 35 offset and 19x9.5 rear with 30 offset i messaged the guy that was selling those and said I might have to roll my fenders. Which I dont want to do. I do like the look of the wheel though but fitment is key here. Currently I got 18x9 in the front and 18x9.5 rear. Offsets I am not sure about because there are 2 stamps that say 22 in the rear and 35 in the front. But it just says the numbers nothing else like ET##

Here is a picture of the wheel set up.

I really would like something along the sides of the same wheels or something similar in terms of design such as BBS LM wheels (with the lip). And I do not want to roll my fenders. I will also be dropping my car on the H&R springs.

So long story short, if i want more concavness... i get 18inch wheels with a smaller offset?

From those shots, I would tend to believe you are running an ET22 rear.

Hi
I'm having a similar doubt. Found a nice set and wondering if they fit. It's a set of 18" style 69 from an X5.
They are et48 though... So, is that unacceptable or it could work?
Thanks.
