20mm front on an 8.5" ET35.... ! I don't think so. That would effectively be an ET 15 on that wheel. It'll look stupid so far out past the fender edge.
If your 9" current wheel doesn't contact the strut, then you can see that an 8.5" wouldn't obviously with the similar offsets. I bet the ET 22 9.5" rear looks good without any spacer. ??
I have ET 29 8.5" M3 wheels and there's plenty of room at the strut. Also, ET 29 is pretty much at the limit unless you start playing with stretching tires and that kind of approach.
If you haven't chosen tires yet, you can go up one step in diameter size to fill the fender gap all the way around without lowering the car at all.

I went outside the box a bit. I bought a set of wheels 2 days ago, next morning the store called me telling me i will need spacers, So i got those spacers that they said I would need. Regardless, My car is going to be a test subject I feel like.
Wheel specs are:
19x8.5 front 35 offset
19x9.5 rear 30 offset (super close)
I dont know much about wheels and i read up a lot about the Xi and wheels. Decided to go for it anyways. My dad said he would buy the wheels off me if i dont like how they would sit etc. If i end up rolling or pulling my fenders then might as well. The person from the shop told me that the wheels are going to sit flush with the car.
My current set up is
18x9 front 33 offset
18x9.5 rear 22 offset
No problems at all. Car looks good.

Fortunately they did sell you wheels that will fit your car and not the low offset RWD wheels. Unfortunately they sold you $200 - $300 worth of unnecessary spacers. Just for future reference, there are some nice tools at the top of our forum. One is the wheel and tire calculator: https://5series.net/forums/tire_rim_calculator.php
By dropping your current front wheel and your new wheel specs into the calculator you would have seen that:
"Inner clearance is 4.35mm more." That means the new wheel will be 4.35mm further away from the strut than your current wheel, so rubbing on the strut would certainly not be issue.

Thanks guys! Yea I dont know why i didnt go with my gut and knowledge. Decided to listen to a wheel expert. Oh well, ill probably end up selling the spacers or returning them. I paid 107 for all 4 with lug nuts. Tho i did not buy spacers from the same store.
Current wheel set up, I have no spacers on.
The only thing I can see now is either let this go, or send a detailed message to the store informing them about the Xi vs RWD models etc...

19'' CSL black wheels
Finally put the 19's on from my old 330i! Stock suspension on this x-drive with 245/40/19 tires doesn't look bad. I love the black on white!! Cell phone pics so hopefully they're not too bad.

Perfect example of what your stock suspension 535Xi will look like by going a little bit bigger on the rubber. Thanks for posting.

My Ride: '07 530xi.
Hello,
I have one question, if you can help me..
I have 530xi, '07 and want to fit Style 122 NON-xDrive rims, (I think offset is 23)
Will it fit and will it have factory look, like on the pictures below?
