AR Design Downpipes Installed
AR Design Downpipes installed today. I haven’t had a chance to drive it very much, as it’s dark and raining, but it’s noticeably different…a good different. Car is really feeling strong...JB4 Map 5, AR DP's and ~30% E85 is a very impressive change.
I thought they went in pretty easily. I removed the reinforcement plate, small heat shield above the sub-frame and the small lower plastic wheel well shield. I was then able to access the V-band bolts through the wheel well. I found a 7/8” crow’s foot helpful for getting to the O2 sensors on the OEM pipes.
A detail worth noting is the cat mounting bracket that’s bolted on by two transmission mounting bolts must be removed. The transmission bolts are long to accommodate the thickness of the bracket. I drilled out a couple of old control arm nuts and used them as spacers.

I don't really notice a difference in the sound. My son made the comment that it sounds more like the 335 now. These pipes have the resonators.

I haven’t noticed a change in the smell. Drove it again yesterday...the change in power is amazing. Power when the oil is still cold (I’m using the JB4 connect kit and an old iPhone for gauges), before the JB4 turns on, is very noticeable, testimony to the fact the DP’s are adding considerably to HP. Once the oil hits165 F and Map 5 kicks in, I notice that power has a more refined, linear feeling. I’ve seen just shy of 20 PSI on 25% E85. I'm loving this car!
