Hi !! anyone drove both the 5 series and the X5 ? is the 5 series quality/confort much higher than the one in the X5 ? I?m in a gap between the 525Touring and the X5 3.0 D because I would like to be able to make some off roading.. even if light..

Although not a fan of off-roading, I just drove x5 at Performance Center on their special course. I drive 530i. Difference of night and day off road. Comfort is super in both. Ride on road is much better in the 5 series even with sport package. As soon as the road is less than smooth, then x5 is winner. Drove it through water over the wheels, all wheel drive, hill descent control is awesome, performance on track was good too. x5 was roomier in cabin. In my opinion, for occasional off-roading, it is not justified to get x5 over 5. I want super road handling and comfort all the time going to work or shopping. I would be happy with x5 for everyday except I know how much better 5 series is.
